Teacher is a professional job, because teacher has important complex duty beginning from making some planning, giving students practicing, teaching and also evaluating. To be a professional teacher based on the Permendiknas no 16 2007 there are 4 competences, they are: pedagogic, social, individual and professional competence. The same thing that should teachers have are enthusiasm for teaching, integrated professional magnetism and solid ability as experts of teaching.
1. Enthusiasm for teaching it means that the teacher has sense of responsibility and pride as a teacher, love to their pupils and students, desire to keep learning and improving themselves.
2. Integrated personal magnetism means that teacher has a well rounded character and sociality and adjusting human relationship and communicative competence.
3. Socialibylity as experts of teaching means that the teacher has teaching ability, understanding students and give guardian to them, and management of the class.
In give some appreciate or award to the teacher performance and in order to give some spirited to them. Government need mapping of the career for the teacher. Right now there are career mapping beginning from II a (young regulator) to IV e ( the main builder) level and with the permanent salary. It regulation due to all teacher but it is not enough especially for the teacher who has special and extra ordinary performance. Unfortunately, right now in developing teacher career is quite hard especially for the extra ordinary teacher. Government should Giving award to the extra ordinary teacher such as giving awards, the automatic promotion, occupying position, and other allowance.
- Giving award (i.e. certificate, cup, special prize/ satya lencana or something) right now the current government does not attempt to do it.
- Automatic promotion (i.e. from the lower to the higher level). But unfortunately the provision of the automatic promotion is still not considered by the government or by policy maker
- Occupying position: promotion for the teachers who have outstanding achievements was the award of government, but this kind of promotion still can not implemented because there factor usually for political office, the bureaucracy is quite long. The promotion can only touch a who have access to the bureaucracy that is good enough and have sufficient politic wok.
In addition. As a professional teacher then we must continue to maintained performance and optimum student’s services and increase knowledge.
The government should give more attention to the teachers who have brilliant performance and achievement such as; giving awards, automatic promotion, occupying position and any others that all due to career development for the teacher.
